musical curvature
Music can play a significant role in the education of children aged 3 to 6 years. It is a multidimensional experience that involves the body, mind, and soul, offering many benefits for learning and development during early childhood.
At POPPY Kindergarten, our educators already implement projects and manage music-related experiences at various times.
Those who wish can already today participate in the extracurricular activity of Ensemble Music. The collective approach to music is indeed fundamental. Children are involved in playing some instruments (mainly percussion and simple wind instruments in the early years) in a context of "playing together." This approach sparks interest and ensures excellent results, allowing for greater learning of all the values inherent in music: commitment, concentration, fun, and sharing with peers.
POPPY KINDERGARTEN has decided to do even more: starting from the 2024/2025 school year, the MUSICAL CURVATURE OF THE KINDERGARTEN will be activated, a curricular project dedicated to some children who wish to invest a significant part of their energy in Music.
The PROJECT has been named POPPY GREEN NOTES and includes music-related activities totaling approximately 70 hours annually, distributed from September to July.
The activities are diverse, framed within a structured program that aids in the musical growth of our children.
Some activities are for heterogeneous groups of ages 3-5 years, while others are for more homogeneous groups.
- ENSEMBLE MUSIC (during the time slot 16:30 – 18:30)
- MUSINOTE FOR THE YOUNGEST: educating about Music (during curricular hours)
- Events / EDUCATIONAL SHOWS at the School's premises
- INTERACTIVE PLAYFUL SEMINARIAL ACTIVITIES (both during curricular hours and in the 16:30 – 18:30 time slot)
- A simple and effective EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM structured over the weeks that parents can manage at home on weekends with their children for a shared and united experience (videos, simple games...)
Activities in English are also planned.
WHO WE WORK WITH
The Project is realized with:
- Guitarre Actuelle Musical Association
- Professor Dora Filippone from the Conservatory of Turin
- Masters Admir Doci and Emanuele Sartoris, both graduates of the Conservatory

ORGANIZATION
The Project is designed and organized to develop over the 3 years of kindergarten from 3 to 5 years. For children who are already attending, it is possible to enroll in the Program for just the last year or for the last two. The available spots for each class are 4, assigned based on the chronological order of enrollment in which the MUSICAL CURVATURE is requested.
COST: the total cost of the Project is €820.00 per year, including the ENSEMBLE MUSIC ACTIVITY (the current cost of which is €400.00)
THE IMPORTANCE OF MUSIC IN EDUCATION FOR 3-5 YEAR OLDS
1. Development of language and cognitive skills: exposure to music promotes the development of language and cognitive skills. Children learn to listen and distinguish sounds, develop phonological awareness, and learn to recognize rhythms and melodies. These musical skills are closely linked to language learning and the ability to understand complex concepts.
2. Motor coordination: Music involves movement and stimulates children's motor coordination. Dancing, playing musical instruments, or simply clapping hands to the rhythm encourages motor control and mastery of their bodies in space.
3. Emotional expression and creativity: Music offers children the opportunity to express their emotions and fosters creativity. Singing, playing, or improvising melodies allows them to explore and communicate feelings non-verbally, encouraging authenticity and emotional openness.
4. Social learning and interaction: Music promotes social learning and interaction among children. Singing or playing together encourages collaboration, mutual listening, and sharing experiences. These collective musical activities help develop important social skills such as tolerance, empathy, and respect for others.
5. Enhancement of concentration and memory skills: musical learning requires concentration and attention. Children learn to follow the rhythm, remember melodies, and coordinate different actions simultaneously. This stimulates cognitive skills, memory, and the ability to focus on a specific task.
6. Stimulation of critical thinking and problem-solving: music encourages critical thinking and problem-solving. Improvisation and musical interpretation require children to make quick and creative decisions, adapt to musical nuances, and solve any problems that may arise during performance.
7. Promotion of culture and open-mindedness: through music, children are exposed to different musical styles, cultural traditions, and foreign languages. This promotes intercultural sensitivity, open-mindedness, and awareness of the world around them.
In conclusion, the inclusion of Music in the education of children aged 3 to 5 years offers a wide range of benefits that stimulate their cognitive, motor, social, and emotional development.
Music creates a fun and engaging environment where children can explore, learn, and grow harmoniously.
